Relaunch of the GAH website with the crossbase API server

The CMS TYPO3 was used for the relaunch of the Gustav Alberts website and online catalog in collaboration with the agency David&Goliath. The country-specific online catalog is available in seven languages: German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Russian. An electronic catalog for nexMart is also provided in parallel.

 

The API server enables us to use the centrally maintained product information in third-party systems. This allows us to display all product information in the product area of our website in a simple, flexible and media-compatible manner without any additional maintenance.

Initial situation

Gustav Alberts needed a modern and user-friendly solution for its website and online catalog in order to provide product information efficiently and at the same time integrate the option for online purchases from partners.

Procedure

As part of the relaunch, a "buy online" function was integrated using the nexMart "retail Connect" module. This enables customers to find suitable online stores that stock a desired product with just one click and to be forwarded directly to the respective article page of the selected store. Alternatively, an integrated search function can be used to find a stationary retailer in the vicinity.

The online catalog created in TYPO3 is fed directly from the crossbase database. In order to keep the data volume as low as possible, only changes since the last access are transferred. This ensures that the latest information is always provided without placing an unnecessary burden on system resources. The data provided includes the navigation structure for product classification, article variants such as differences in material or finish, technical details such as dimensions as well as manually created and automatically generated product descriptions. This is supplemented by media files such as product photos, application images, assembly instructions and videos.

Result

The website and online catalog are now available in seven languages and offer an appealing product presentation with direct purchasing options. The online catalog is automatically updated with current data from the crossbase database, ensuring efficient and error-free operation.
